How Motor Oil Guide earns revenue through affiliate partnerships.

This site contains affiliate links. When you purchase through these links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

How It Works

When you click a product link on Motor Oil Guide and complete a purchase, the retailer pays us a small referral fee. This never changes the price you pay — you get the same price whether you arrive through our link or go directly to the retailer’s site.

Amazon Associates

Motor Oil Guide is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to www.amazon.com.

Our Promise

Affiliate relationships do not influence our recommendations. When we say a $6 store-brand motor oil performs comparably to a $12 name brand for most engines, it’s because the specification data supports that conclusion — not because one of them pays a higher commission rate.

We do not accept free products from manufacturers, sponsored content, or paid placements. Products are evaluated based on their API ratings, viscosity specifications, owner’s manual requirements, and publicly available performance data.

If we wouldn’t put it in our own engine, we won’t recommend it here. (Currently: a 2009 F-150 with 186k miles running Mobil 1 5W-30.)
